Incessant rain has led the education department to relocate students from two schools that were severely damaged. One school in Belthangady and another in Kadaba were found to be unsafe, and students have been moved to nearby schools.

This year, 126 schools have been affected by rain, with estimated damage costs reaching Rs 5.5 crore. The Department of School Education and Literacy has requested repairs from the district administration. While two schools are completely damaged, others have suffered partial damage. For example, the retaining wall of a school in Puttur was damaged. The number of affected schools has increased from 83 in early July to 126.

Last year, 289 schools were damaged, the highest number recorded so far. Tarakesari, Block Educational Officer in Belthangady, reported that the Class 8 classroom in Saralikatte was destroyed, and 36 students were relocated to a nearby high school about 20 days ago. The highest number of damaged schools has been reported in Puttur, Belthangady, and Bantwal areas.
