Shiruru hill collapse: Missing truck found in Gangavali river, operation intensified

An ongoing operation is underway in Shiruru village following a landslide incident on National Highway 66 near Ankola taluk. Revenue Minister Krishnabhairegowda tweeted about the situation, noting that a truck has been confirmed in the Gangavali river. Naval swimmers will soon initiate operations, aided by advanced drone technology. A dredging machine is being used to search for bodies, complemented by helicopter surveillance.

On Wednesday, authorities conducted an operation using a boom crane in the Gangavali river, where an iron object struck the crane bucket, indicating the presence of a submerged vehicle. District Collector Lakshmeepriya and SP Narayan swiftly responded to the scene. The search for victims, including Arjun, continues amidst reports of hill collapses and renewed landslide warnings in Shirur. The district remains on high alert with concerns about land subsidence affecting 34 residential areas, following the loss of 39 lives in landslides so far.
