On Tuesday, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) criticized the Central government for the Budget, claiming that the Rs 26,000 crore allocated to Bihar is intended for the corporate sector rather than the common people. Bhai Virendra, a four-time RJD MLA from Maner, argued that the Finance Minister’s budget lacks provisions for addressing unemployment among youth and fails to address the needs of farmers, women, and workers.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced Rs 26,000 crore for various infrastructure projects in Bihar. However, Bhai Virendra pointed out that similar projects have been promised by previous governments and stressed that Bihar needs special category status, which the Central government has not granted.
Former Bihar CM Rabri Devi also criticized the Budget, calling it a mere Jhunjhuna (toy) for Bihar and stating that it offers nothing substantial for the common people.
In defense, BJP MLA Pramod Kumar argued that the Budget will enhance Bihar’s economy through infrastructure development. He highlighted new projects including three expressways, a two-lane bridge in Buxar, a power station in Pirpainti, and an industrial hub in Gaya. Kumar asserted that these projects will spur development, create jobs, and help reduce migration from the state.
