Must read

In a significant development, Bengaluru has become the first city in the country to introduce LKG and UKG classes in Anganwadi centers, marking a victory for anganwadi workers who have long advocated for this initiative. Starting Monday, LKG and UKG classes will commence across the centers in the state.

The decision comes after persistent efforts by Anganwadi workers, supported by the education department’s plan to implement these classes.

The inaugural ceremony for LKG and UKG classes will take place at the Pattegara Palya Anganwadi Center in Bengaluru. The event has been adorned with balloons and flowers, and a ceremonial kalash has been placed in the classroom and duly worshiped. Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar inaugurated the event at 12 noon.

This step is expected to enhance early childhood education accessibility and quality, benefiting children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds across the state.
