On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah kicked off the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. Speaking at an extended executive committee meeting in Ranchi’s Prabhat Tara ground, Shah called for the removal of the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress-RJD government, labeling it as the most corrupt in India.

Shah criticized the Jharkhand government for being involved in several major scams, including a Rs 1,000 crore MGNREGA scam, a Rs 1,000 crore mining scam, and a Rs 300 crore land scam. He pointed out that Rs 300 crore was found at a Congress MP’s residence and Rs 30 crore at the house of a minister’s personal assistant in Jharkhand.

He also accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of facilitating ‘Bangladeshi influx’ into the state, claiming that instead of supporting the tribal population, Soren is protecting intruders who are taking over tribal land and resources. Shah argued that the number of tribals in Jharkhand is decreasing as outsiders are taking their jobs and rights.

Shah promised that if the BJP wins the election, they will release a white paper to ensure tribal rights and proper reservation benefits. He highlighted the BJP’s dedication to tribal welfare, citing the appointment of Babulal Marandi as Jharkhand’s first tribal Chief Minister and Droupadi Murmu as President. He also praised the Narendra Modi government for its efforts in advancing the rights of tribals, Dalits, and backward classes, including implementing a 27% reservation for OBCs and establishing a commission for backward classes.
