Heavy Rains: House collapses, 6 people escape for life

Belagavi
Heavy rains in the Western Ghats have caused rivers and ditches in the district to overflow. In Kasamalgi village of Khanapur taluk, a house belonging to Sawant Tegur collapsed, fortunately without any loss of life.
The collapse occurred during a storm late at night, prompting six occupants, including a pregnant woman, to evacuate as they heard the wall crack. Everyone escaped unharmed due to their quick response.
In Khanapur taluk, residents are concerned about the Halatri Bridge near Hemmadaga, which frequently floods during heavy rains, disrupting traffic and isolating over 20 villages annually for the past four decades. Local demands for repairs and upgrades to the bridge have been ongoing.
The potential sinking of the bridge could sever the connection between Karnataka and Goa states, affecting daily necessities and prompting calls for government intervention to address the critical infrastructure issue.
