Allegations were made by KPCC Working President and MLC Manjunath Bhandari, claiming that the BJP has turned transfers into a business by setting fixed percentages and rates for them. Speaking at a media conference, he accused BJP MLC CT Ravi of initiating this practice within the Congress government. Bhandari emphasized the need for transparency in the transfer processes of Panchayat Development Officers, Sub-Registrars, and doctors, following the counseling system introduced after the Congress government took office.
In response, BJP MLA Basan Gowda Patil Yatnal had previously disclosed alleged financial demands for high-ranking political posts within the BJP. Bhandari asserted that the Congress government ensures transparency and avoids corruption in official appointments and transfers, allowing officers to operate independently.
There is a proposal to amend laws requiring officers transferred within the Home Department to serve a minimum of two years in their new positions. CT Ravi dismissed Bhandari’s accusations as unfounded. Bhandari also criticized the BJP for making baseless claims to tarnish the Congress government’s reputation, especially regarding the guarantee scheme.
