In the recent Lok Adalat held at the District Court, a total of 8,501 cases from various courts were addressed, with 6,399 cases resolved. KC Sadanandaswamy, the Principal Judge of the District and Sessions Court, disclosed that Rs 28.1 crore was recovered across different cases. Among these, several long-pending cases were settled through compromise, including one case over 10 years old and nine cases over 5 years old.
During the Lok Adalat, compensation amounts ranging from Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 30.5 lakh were awarded in motor vehicle cases. Additionally, residents of Haveri paid Rs 7.6 crore in water and property taxes, totaling 48,512 payments. The event also facilitated the reconciliation of five couples who had applied for divorce, including a 50-year-old couple who withdrew their divorce application following mediation efforts by advocates.
Judge KC Sadanandaswamy emphasized the collaborative efforts of judges, advocates, police, RTO officials, insurance company representatives, mediators, and clients in resolving the majority of cases. He encouraged clients to utilize the opportunity provided by Lok Adalat for their future benefit.
