Japan’s meteorological agency issued a warning on Wednesday for heavy rainfall across multiple regions. The Tohoku region and eastern Japan are likely to experience torrential downpours until Thursday, while western Japan may see heavy rain continuing until Friday. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) attributed these conditions to unstable atmospheric patterns caused by warm, moist air moving towards a seasonal rain front extending from the Sea of Japan to northern Japan, as reported by source.

According to the JMA, these areas could face sporadic heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Precipitation during the 24-hour period until Thursday morning is anticipated to reach up to 150 millimeters in the Tohoku, Tokai, and Chugoku regions. Similarly, in the 24 hours until Friday morning, northern Kyushu may receive up to 100 millimeters, Hokuriku and Chugoku around 80 millimeters each, and the Tohoku region about 50 millimeters, according to the source.

Weather authorities have advised precautionary measures due to potential risks of flooding in low-lying areas, landslides, and swollen rivers. They also cautioned about accompanying hazards such as lightning, strong winds, and hail.
