The CID officials on Monday submitted a charge sheet of approximately 483 pages to the court in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Neha Hiremath, daughter of Niranjanaiah Hiremath, a student of a prestigious college in the city.
On April 18, Neha’s old classmate Fayaz, who hails from Savadatti, stabbed her with a knife and brutally murdered her in the premises of a prestigious college in Vidyanagar.
The murdered Neha had rejected Fayaz’s love. Annoyed by this, he told the police that he had killed his old classmate. A case was registered in this regard at the Vidyanagar police station.
Violent protests were held not only in Karnataka but across the country by the public, various organizations and the BJP to condemn Neha’s murder. The murderer should be hanged. There was a clamour for an encounter. Niranjanaiah Hiremath, the father of the murdered Neha, along with the BJP, also demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI.
The state government had entrusted the investigation of the case to the CID. CID, DYSP NH Paik filed the charge sheet before the local First Additional Civil Court and Third JMFC Court on Monday.
