PM Narendra Modi Begins Two-Day Visit To Russia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Moscow on Monday for a two-day official visit to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, marking the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. He was warmly received by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov upon arrival. Manturov, who is senior to the Deputy Prime Minister who received the Chinese President during his visit to Russia, made a rare gesture by personally accompanying PM Modi from the airport to the hotel in the same car.

On Monday, PM Modi is scheduled to meet President Putin for bilateral discussions, while tomorrow he will participate in a community event in Moscow. Ahead of his visit, the Indian diaspora in Moscow expressed their excitement and eagerness to welcome PM Modi. Members of the diaspora shared their anticipation. Savika, a member of the community, expressed her joy at the prospect of meeting the Prime Minister for the first time, having previously only seen him on television.

Young members of the Indian community in Moscow chanted ‘Vande Mataram’ and cheered for PM Modi upon his arrival. Anshika Singh, a student who has lived in Moscow for 11 years, expressed her honor and excitement about meeting PM Modi, while Sidhu from Tamil Nadu, a resident for 17 years, shared his anticipation and gratitude to the Indian embassy for facilitating the opportunity. Abir Imtiaz, a resident of Moscow for 11 years, expressed his pride and honor at PM Modi’s visit, highlighting the significance of the Prime Minister’s presence in Moscow.
