Belagavi
In Belagavi, the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists’ Association (KUWJ) organized an event at Kannada Bhavan in Nehru Nagar to commemorate Journalists Day. Senior journalists and achievers in SSLC and II PU were honored with the Pratibha Award. MLA Ashif (Raju) Sait inaugurated the event.
Senior journalist Sarjoo Katkar, a guest at the event, noted significant changes in journalism over the past decade, with print, electronic media, and social media gaining influence. He emphasized the importance of honest, socially oriented journalism for its survival and growth, maintaining that truthfulness, honesty, and social welfare should guide journalistic practices.
The event was presided over by Honorary President of KUWJ Bhimashi Jarkiholi. Senior journalists Rajashekhar Patil, Keshav Adi, HV Nagaraj, CA Itnalamath, Subhash Kulkarni, Manisha Subedar, and Luis Rodraguez, all above 60 years old, were honored. Additionally, 14 children of journalists who scored over 80% in SSLC and II PUC were recognized.
A couple from Neginahal, who have distributed newspapers for 63 consecutive years, were also honored. Among the dignitaries present were Corporation Commissioner Ashok Dudagunti, DCP Rohan Jagadish, Police Officer Shruti, Gurunath Kadabur, State Vice-President of KUWJ Pundalik Baloji, Dilipakumar Kurandwade, Munna Bhagwan, and MK Hegde.
