Mangaluru
A market in Urwa Store, near the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) office, is in dire need of attention. The market, home to vendors selling fish, vegetables, and groceries, lacks basic facilities, causing inconvenience to both sellers and buyers. Despite repeated pleas and protests by local merchants, led by DYFI, the MCC has not taken steps to improve conditions. Rajesh Kulal, a DYFI representative, highlighted the market’s dilapidated state and the community’s concerns over its neglect. He emphasized the urgent need for the MCC to provide essential amenities, such as a proper building, public toilets, and shelter from weather conditions, especially during the rainy season. Sukesh, another community leader, stressed that the market, frequented by hundreds daily, operates without even a roof over its stalls. The absence of basic facilities like toilets further compounds the inconvenience faced by merchants and customers alike. The community urges the MCC to initiate immediate redevelopment efforts to address these pressing issues at Urwa Store market.
