English winger Michael Olise has completed a move to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, signing a five-year contract that runs until June 30, 2029. The transfer sees Olise leave Premier League club Crystal Palace, despite strong interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United. Ultimately, he opted to join Vincent Kompany’s squad this summer.

Born in London, the 22-year-old progressed through the youth systems of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City before finding his senior debut with Reading in March 2019. His time at Crystal Palace, during the 2021/22 season, saw him tally 16 goals and 25 assists in 90 appearances.

Expressing his excitement about joining Bayern Munich, Olise spoke of positive discussions with the club and his eagerness for the challenge ahead. I’m thrilled to be joining such a prestigious club. It’s a big challenge, exactly what I was looking for. I aim to prove myself at this level and contribute to our team winning numerous titles in the years to come, he stated in a club-released statement.

Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, highlighted Olise’s speed, skill, and versatility in attack, praising his impressive stats in goals and assists. Meanwhile, Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, emphasized Olise’s potential to enhance the team’s quality on the pitch.

Olise’s move to Bayern Munich marks a significant step in his career, as he looks forward to making a meaningful impact at one of Europe’s top clubs.
