On Friday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss various issues concerning National Highway development in the state. During the meeting, a request letter was submitted to the Central Government for prompt approval of several proposals.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the approval granted for the development projects including Belgaum–Hunagund–Raichur (NH748A), Bangalore Chennai Express Highway, Surat Chennai Express Highway, and Bangalore Suburban Ring Road greenfield corridors. He also highlighted other crucial matters to the Union Minister.
The process of declaring 39 roads as National Highways, which have received in-principle approval, has been delayed, covering a total of 5225 kilometers across the state. Siddaramaiah urged immediate action on this issue.

Other requests included approval for constructing a flyover at Manipal Hospital Junction (Columbia Asia Hospital) in Mysore city, nine grade separators on NH-275K at Mysore Ring Road, and a flyover on old NH4 in Belagavi city. There are also plans for introducing a cable car facility at Gokak waterfall in Belagavi district.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, along with Ministers KJ George, Dr. Parameshwara, Satish Jarakiholi, and Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Govindaraju, among others, attended the meeting.
