Celine Dion Receives Standing Ovation At ‘I Am: Celine Dion’ Documentary Screening

Must read

Celine Dion was moved to tears on Monday night at the New York screening of her documentary, ‘I Am: Celine Dion.’ The event took place at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and ended with a standing ovation from the audience. Dion expressed her gratitude, saying the movie was her love letter to everyone who has been part of her journey.

A clip from the event was shared on Dion’s Instagram. The documentary, directed by Academy Award nominee Irene Taylor, explores Dion’s life and her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome, also known as Moersch-Woltman Syndrome. The film aims to show Dion’s musical legacy and her resilience in facing this rare neurological disorder.

Since December 2022, Dion has mostly stayed out of the public eye due to her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome. The condition, which causes uncontrollable muscle spasms and affects mobility, forced Dion to cancel her 2023 tour dates. In December, her sister Claudette revealed that Dion struggled with involuntary muscle movements. Despite challenges, Dion appeared at the Grammy Awards on February 4. She presented the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift for ‘Midnights.’ This appearance highlighted Dion’s continued presence in the music industry.
