Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana announced on Sunday that the development of Amaravati as the state capital would be completed within the next two-and-a-half years. He emphasized that Amaravati aims to be ranked among the top five capital cities globally, and the existing plans would be executed to achieve this goal.

We are committed to finishing the development works of Amaravati in the next two-and-a-half years, Narayana stated, addressing reporters at the state secretariat after assuming office. He highlighted the involvement of the Singapore government in the city’s design to ensure financial benefits for all districts.

Narayana mentioned that consultations with countries like Singapore, China, Japan, Russia, and Malaysia were crucial in developing the best designs for Amaravati. He noted that tenders totaling Rs 48,000 crore had been issued previously to provide essential amenities across the capital, with bills amounting to Rs 9,000 crore already settled.

The minister pointed out that significant progress had been made in constructing residential quarters for bureaucrats and legislators, nearing completion at 90%. Narayana also underscored that 34,000 acres of land were voluntarily handed over by farmers to the government after the land pooling notification on January 1, 2015.

Looking ahead, Narayana pledged to review the plans with officials immediately and expected to clarify priorities for the capital’s development within the next 15 days.
