Delhi BJP President Accuses AAP of Exploiting Water Crisis for Personal Gain Amidst Delhi’s severe water crisis, political tensions escalate as Virendra Sachdeva, President of Delhi’s BJP unit, accused AAP leaders, including MLAs and ministers, of exploiting the situation for personal enrichment. Sachdeva alleged that AAP officials colluded with bureaucrats to provide illegal water connections in areas like Buddha Vihar, Inder Puri, charging residents approximately Rs 35,000 each without proper documentation or metering. According to him, these illicit connections were later linked to Delhi Jal Board pipelines.

Sachdeva emphasized that this wasn’t the work of rogue elements but a systematic effort facilitated by a network enjoying political protection. He particularly targeted Delhi’s Water Minister, Atishi, questioning why these illegal connections weren’t regularized if they were still operational. Sachdeva claimed the motive behind such actions was to divert funds into personal pockets rather than government coffers.

The ongoing dispute between AAP and BJP over Delhi’s water woes has intensified, with accusations flying about water theft and the alleged role of private tanker mafias exacerbating the crisis. The BJP contends that under AAP’s governance, these mafias have thrived due to protection from AAP leaders and their associates. In response, Atishi blamed senior officials for colluding with tanker mafias, asserting that the number of operational tankers had decreased significantly under her tenure, contrary to allegations.

Amidst these accusations, Sachdeva has formally lodged a complaint with the Police Commissioner, urging an investigation into water theft by tanker mafias in collaboration with Delhi Jal Board officials.
