The second phase of Population Stabilisation Fortnight, focusing on Community Mobilisation, is scheduled to begin on June 27 and run until July 10 in Uttar Pradesh. Led by the Yogi Adityanath government, this initiative aims to raise public awareness about family planning through activities such as ‘Sarathi Vahan’ and ‘Saas-Beta-Bahu Sammelan’.

During this period, health units across the state will provide consultations on various family planning methods, ensuring accessibility for eligible beneficiaries. The Health Department is actively working to accelerate family welfare programs and achieve population stabilisation.

World Population Day, observed annually on July 11, aligns with these efforts to promote understanding of population control. Principal Secretary Parth Sarthi Sen Sharma has issued guidelines to District Magistrates and Chief Medical Officers to ensure effective implementation of the campaign.

Pinky Jovel, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, emphasized the active participation of officials, health workers, and communities in Population Fortnight. These collaborative efforts have contributed to a decline in Uttar Pradesh’s Total Fertility Rate from 2.7 (NFHS-4, 2015-16) to 2.4 (NFHS-5, 2019-20).

The ongoing first phase of Population Stabilisation Fortnight, which began on June 1 and ends on June 20, focuses on preparing targeted couples and implementing service delivery strategies effectively. This includes training health personnel, ensuring a steady supply of family planning resources, and fostering inter-departmental coordination.
