National Conference president Farooq Abdullah emphasized the necessity of talks with Pakistan to address terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, following three recent terrorist attacks in the region.
Abdullah’s comments came after a series of attacks, including one on a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi that resulted in nine deaths and 41 injuries. In Doda, terrorists attacked a joint check-post, injuring six security personnel. Additionally, security forces killed a suspected Pakistani terrorist in Kathua, with a second terrorist also gunned down later, albeit with the loss of a CRPF jawan’s life.
Addressing reporters, Abdullah stressed, Terrorism won’t cease without dialogue between India and Pakistan. He lamented the loss of innocent lives, calling it unfortunate, and urged for a proactive approach to find a solution.
Referring to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s focus on resolving border issues, Abdullah highlighted the importance of dialogue, echoing Jaishankar’s stance on cross-border terrorism and the need for peaceful relations with Pakistan.
Abdullah expressed hope that the government’s acknowledgment of the need for dialogue signifies progress and urged for swift action to end the suffering of innocent people in Jammu and Kashmir and across the country.
