The Central Water Commission (CWC) and IIT Roorkee have signed two pacts to address water management and urban flooding.
These agreements aim to develop innovative solutions for efficient water management and urban flood resilience. The first focuses on enhancing water resources management, including initiatives such as evaluating irrigation efficiency and mapping cropped areas. It also introduces a certificate program for water auditors and analyzes climate change impacts.
The second pact targets urban flooding, emphasizing forecasting and flood risk management. By leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence, the collaboration aims to produce precise flood susceptibility maps.
Professor Ashish Pandey from IIT Roorkee highlighted the partnership’s potential for innovation. CWC Chairman Kushvinder Vohra stressed the importance of these pacts in managing water resources and urban flooding effectively.
The collaboration, set for five years, aims to improve irrigation efficiency, study water usage, and predict urban floods. It aligns with government initiatives and aims to benefit society by enhancing water management and urban flood resilience.
