S.R. Umashankar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department, officially assumed the role of Administrator of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Wednesday.
Umashankar’s induction into the BBMP leadership was marked by a ceremony attended by key officials from the municipal body. Among those present were BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath, Special Commissioner Munish Maudgil, Suralkar Vikas Kishore, K. Harish Kumar, Shivanand Kalkere, Zonal Commissioner Snehal, R.L. Deepak, Kari Gowda, Ramesh, Preeti Gehlot, Deputy Commissioner of Finance Ajit Kumar Hegde, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Swamy, Joint Commissioner Ajay, and other officials.
Umashankar’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for BBMP, as the municipal corporation grapples with various urban development challenges and strives to meet the evolving needs of Bengaluru’s residents. With his extensive experience and leadership acumen, Umashankar is expected to play a pivotal role in steering BBMP towards effective governance and sustainable development initiatives.
