Darshan’s film ‘Robert’ has returned to screens, amid a reluctance from producers to release big movies due to events like IPL and elections. As a result, some old movies have been re-released in a new format. On Puneeth Rajkumar’s birthday, ‘Jackie’ was re-released and became a blockbuster. KRG Studios plans to re-release Appu’s hit movies for his birthday in the coming years, starting with ‘Appu’ next year.
Recently, the film ‘A’, directed by Upendra, was successfully shown for 2 weeks in some places. In response, Darshan’s fans are demanding the re-release of ‘Navagraha’, creating a trend on social media with the hashtag #WeWantNavagrahaReRelease. Directed by Dinkar, ‘Navagraha’ was a unique attempt in Kannada cinema, featuring the children of famous villains in lead roles, including Darshan’s own production, where he played Jaggu, a thief.
The film, released in 2008, garnered success and there were talks of a sequel, though it never materialized. Darshan has expressed his lack of interest in sequels but acknowledges ‘Navagraha’ remains a favorite among fans. Currently, Darshan is working on the film ‘Devil’, directed by Milana Prakash, set to release during Christmas celebrations. Whether ‘Navagraha’ will be re-released depends on Tugudeepa Productions or a potential distributor’s decision.
