Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary (communications), launched a scathing criticism against Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, accusing him of breathtaking hypocrisy for paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi before his third swearing-in ceremony.
In a statement on X platform, Ramesh highlighted Modi’s actions, stating, Look at his track record, his ideological allies fostered such a toxic environment of hostility and hatred that it led to the cold-blooded murder of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30th, 1948.
Ramesh further criticized Modi for failing to reprimand colleagues who glorify Nathuram Godse, displacing Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament House twice, and making false claims about Gandhi’s global recognition before 1982.
Despite Ramesh’s accusations, Modi offered tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and visited the war memorial before his swearing-in ceremony.
Modi took the oath of office at 7:15 PM on Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, along with his council of ministers, after being unanimously elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on June 5.
