Kumaraswamy expressed happiness over the victory of BJP-JDS alliance candidates SL Boje Gowda and K. Vivekananda in the elections to the Legislative Council from the teachers’ constituencies. The candidates won against the Congress by a large margin on first preference votes. Kumaraswamy noted that this victory demonstrated the strength of the BJP-JDS alliance, attributing the success to the coordinated efforts of party workers and leaders. He expressed gratitude to the teachers and workers of both parties for their support.
Kumaraswamy assured that the winning candidates would work honestly as representatives of the teachers. He pointed out that the Congress party lost the Vidhan Parishad elections in the chief minister’s home district, following their defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. He mentioned that the JDS’s victory disproved claims that their political influence was waning.
Kumaraswamy criticized the Congress for underestimating the BJP-JDS alliance and stated that the recent election results indicated growing public discontent with the Congress party. He claimed that within a year, people had become disillusioned with the Congress, and the results suggested a decline in the party’s fortunes.
Former minister CP Yogeshwar was also present on the occasion.
