Electric Airport Taxis From Refex Eveelz Begin Operations At Bengaluru Airport

Must read

A new fleet of electric vehicle (EV) airport taxis by Refex eVeelz has been introduced at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, to mark World Environment Day. The fleet consists of 175 compact SUVs in teal and pink.

The sustainability initiatives were detailed by officials at Bangalore International Airport Ltd. The introduction of the EV taxi fleet and a tree planting drive are steps towards reducing the carbon footprint and enhancing green spaces at the airport. A total of 100 trees have been planted on the campus to improve the environment.

Passengers can book the new EV taxis at the airport taxi stands in both terminals or through the BLR Pulse mobile application. The teal-colored SUVs represent the airport’s commitment to sustainability, while the pink ones are for female passengers, operated by female drivers. As a safety measure, each female passenger is given a ‘Pink Card’ with contact numbers for the duty manager, local police, and ambulance services.

Refex Group’s Green Mobility vertical aims to provide safe and eco-friendly commuting options. Over 50 percent of the airport’s fleet is now electric, significantly reducing carbon emissions.

Bangalore International Airport Ltd is working towards transitioning all vehicles at the airport to sustainable options. The implementation of semi-robotic aircraft towing vehicles and EVs on both airside and landside supports broader environmental goals, fostering a greener future.
