Amid a blistering heatwave and water shortage, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has instructed the Delhi Jal Board to deploy 200 teams across the city to tackle water wastage. Anyone found wasting water will face a fine of Rs 200. Atishi, in a letter to the DJB, emphasized the critical need for water conservation given the prevailing circumstances.

The letter highlighted significant water wastage in various parts of Delhi, including illegal connections taken by construction sites and businesses from domestic water supplies. Atishi instructed the DJB CEO to crack down on such misuse immediately.

Starting from 8 am tomorrow, the teams will enforce fines of Rs 2000 on water wasters and disconnect illegal connections at construction sites or commercial premises. Atishi expressed frustration with the Haryana government for not releasing Delhi’s water share and threatened legal action if the situation doesn’t improve soon.

She also urged citizens to use water responsibly, warning of potential water supply adjustments if wastage continues. The government’s aim is to ensure efficient water usage during this challenging period.
