The deadline for the Assembly and Parishad elections has been fixed, and the lobbying for the MLC seat is intense from the expatriates and original Congressmen. Based on the current strength, Congress will get 7 seats. There are about 10 more aspirants for these positions and the calculation is going on caste-wise and region-wise.

Meanwhile, the seniors want to be re-elected. Even the newcomers have demanded to give tickets to those who are actively involved in the party. More than 10 aspirants are lobbying. As the number of aspirants has increased, there is confusion among Kai leaders as to whom to give.

Chief Minister’s son Yathindra, who sacrificed his constituency for his father, is said to be almost certain to enter the upper house. It has been decided to give Yathindra the post of MLC to avoid remaining away from power for another four years. It is said that AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge and KPCC President DK Shivakumar have agreed to this. In addition to this, it is said that a decision has been reached to continue Minister Bose Raju and Chief Minister’s close friend K Govindaraju. Immigrants who have left the BJP and joined the Congress are also fighting fiercely for the MLC post. Tejaswini Gowda has started lobbying for ticket to KP Nanjundi. Malikayaiah Guttedar, Baburao Chinchansur, former MP Karadi Sanganna, who recently joined the party, are also trying to enter the upper house.
