Subbaiah Circle To Shanthinagar Junction Closed Temporarily

Must read

Temporary restrictions have been imposed on vehicle movement in the Halasuru Gate traffic police station limits due to ongoing Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) pipeline work. The section from Subbaiah Circle to Shanthinagar Junction is temporarily closed, although LMVs and two-wheelers can still use the Mission Road flyover. Vehicles traveling from NR Square and Hudson Circle towards Subbaiah Circle are advised to divert right at Subbaiah Circle, proceed along Lalbagh Road, then turn left onto Nala Road to join K H Road towards Shanthinagar Junction.

Parking restrictions are in place on Mission Road, Nala Road, Double Road, and Lalbagh Road. Public cooperation has been requested by the police to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety. The surge in minority institutions following the Right to Education Act (RTE Act) has been notable. The Act mandates that schools allocate 25% of their seats to disadvantaged communities. To evade this requirement and maintain their elite status, some schools have sought minority status. The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act 2004 allows competent authorities to grant minority status.

Initially, fewer than 750 institutions received this status annually, but the number surged after 2009, with a peak of almost 2,000 in 2012. This trend suggests that some elite schools may be using minority status to avoid compliance with the RTE Act. Exceptions and amendments have been made, such as a 2010 order by the HRD ministry protecting minority institutions’ rights during RTE Act implementation, and a 2012 amendment exempting minority institutions from the Act’s provisions. Notably, even prominent schools like Delhi Public Schools have obtained minority status.
