After Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole sparked controversy with his remarks about purifying the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir once the INDIA bloc assumes power at the Centre, several priests have strongly opposed and condemned his statement, considering it an affront to the people.
Mahant Narayan Giri, spokesperson for Juna Akhara, expressed dismay, calling Patole’s statement absurd and insulting to all Sadhus and backward communities. He highlighted the disrespect shown towards Hindu sentiments and called for punitive action against Patole.
Spiritual leader Swami Dipankar echoed similar sentiments, denouncing Patole’s remarks as surprising and divisive. He criticized the notion of purification and urged for unity rather than division based on caste.
Acharya Chandranshu, a prominent Hindu religious leader, labeled Patole’s statement as an insult to all Indians, emphasizing that the construction of the Ram Mandir involved people from diverse backgrounds. He questioned the need for purification, especially after President Droupadi Murmu’s visit, suggesting it was unwarranted.
Patole’s statement, in which he suggested that Shankaracharyas would purify the Ram Temple upon the INDIA Alliance’s assumption of power, stirred controversy. He asserted plans to establish the Ram Darbar at the site, criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of the temple construction.
