Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad was allegedly attacked while attending a wedding in Khalilabad Kotwali Police Station area, police said on Monday. His personal secretary, Vinod Kumar, filed a complaint about the incident.

The attack occurred late Sunday night in Mohammadpur Kathar village when Nishad was attending a wedding. He was confronted by a group of people who questioned his work and his son’s absence from the constituency. The encounter escalated, leaving Nishad with a bloody nose. He was taken to a local hospital for first aid.

Nishad described the incident, stating that while he was waiting for the wedding ceremony to begin, some people started making disrespectful comments about his son, MP Pravin Nishad. He tried to talk to them, but they became aggressive. The minister claimed that when he asked them to behave, they attacked him, breaking his glasses and injuring his nose.

Police Circle Officer Brijesh Singh said that four suspects Raghavendra Yadav, Jai Prakash Yadav, Digvijay Yadav, and Abhishek Yadav have been detained. They are being investigated for rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, and attempted murder. Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya condemned the attack, accusing the Samajwadi Party (SP) of supporting hooliganism. He stated that strict action would be taken against the attackers, reinforcing the state’s stance against lawlessness.
