Accusing the Left of dividing anti-BJP votes in Thiruvananthapuram, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor criticized their focus on undermining him instead of addressing BJP’s misrule. Tharoor, contesting against BJP’s Rajeev Chandrasekhar and CPI’s Pannyan Raveendran, highlighted the irony of Left’s stance, preaching alliance in one constituency and dividing votes in another.
Tharoor expressed readiness for a debate with his rivals, emphasizing his confidence in his work and positions on various issues. He challenged them to discuss matters like price hike, unemployment, corruption, and communalism. Tharoor dismissed concerns about ‘fatigue,’ asserting his active engagement and dedication to his constituents over the years.
He emphasized his accomplishments in a detailed report and highlighted voters’ likely rejection of BJP’s divisive politics. Despite the national alliance between Congress and CPI, they compete in Kerala’s UDF and LDF blocs. Elected in 2009, Tharoor served in UPA governments and secured a hat-trick win in 2019 with a significant margin.
