Yashwant Sinha, former finance minister, criticized the BJP government, labeling electoral bonds a huge scandal and demonetization as a means to convert black money into white. He accused the government of concealing corrupt actions under a shroud of secrecy.
Sinha, who retired from politics, dismissed BJP’s claims of securing over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized that the opposition INDIA bloc is underestimated and predicted an improved performance by opposition parties, including Congress.
Regarding Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) joining the NDA, Sinha opined that Kumar had lost credibility, and the election results would reflect dissatisfaction with his alliance switch.
Despite pressure from his former constituency, Hazaribagh, to contest elections, Sinha declined due to health concerns. He expressed contentment with leading a retired life.
Representing Hazaribagh in Lok Sabha from 1998-99 and 2009-2014, Sinha’s son, Jayant Sinha, won the seat in 2014 and 2019. However, this time, Hazaribagh Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal was chosen by the party for the Lok Sabha elections.
