Neeraj Kumar, the General Election Observer for the Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency, stressed the importance of ensuring basic amenities like drinking water, toilets, and ramps at polling booths to facilitate voters without inconvenience. Speaking at a meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat office hall, Kumar urged Assistant Returning Officers to thoroughly inspect all polling booths under their jurisdiction.
Emphasizing the need for free and fair elections, Kumar reminded officials to strictly adhere to the model code of conduct. He also highlighted provisions allowing individuals above 85 years and those with disabilities to vote from home, facilitated through Form 12D.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar provided insights into various appointments, including nodal officers and Assistant Election Officers, as well as arrangements for voters, sensitive polling booths, and voting from home for eligible individuals.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Sheikh Tanveer Asif emphasized the organization of sweep programs at various levels, particularly in urban areas. Election Expenditure Inspector Kumar Priyatham Ashok, Police Expenditure Inspector Deepa Sathyan, Zilla Panchayat Planning Director Sanjeevappa, and other officials were present.
