Scores of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters held a day-long fast on Sunday in protest against the arrest of their party’s leader and Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal. The demonstration took place in a park in the upscale Gandhi Nagar area of the city. Participants accused the BJP of orchestrating Kejriwal’s arrest on false charges just before the Lok Sabha elections.

Mahna claimed that the BJP is deliberately targeting AAP because it has emerged as a national party under Kejriwal’s leadership, posing a threat to the BJP’s dominance. She criticized central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate for acting as BJP’s puppets, alleging that AAP leaders were imprisoned without evidence, as seen with the release of party MP Sanjay Singh due to lack of a money trail.

Stressing the danger to democracy and the Constitution under BJP’s rule, Mahna emphasized unity against dictatorship. Senior AAP leader Agya Kour expressed confidence in the eventual triumph of truth, accusing the BJP of absolving its allies of wrongdoing while labeling dissenters as anti-national and corrupt. She accused the BJP of employing divisive and authoritarian tactics to maintain power.
