During Match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2024, Mumbai Indians’ middle-order batter Tim David completed a three-run run at Wankhede Stadium, a rare occurrence at the venue, as per his observation during the innings break. While completing his second run, David noticed his skipper Hardik Pandya initiating a third run, unaware that Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant had retrieved the ball and struck the stumps at the non-striker’s end. Consequently, David had to sprint back, dive, and complete three runs, an unusual feat at Wankhede, according to David.

David, a white-ball expert who has represented the Australia national team and played franchise cricket globally, described the incident during the 17th over, where he ran three runs alongside Pandya. Mumbai Indians, having started well, faced a setback in the middle overs before concluding the innings strongly, with Romario Shepherd’s explosive 10-ball 39, including 32 runs off the final over bowled by Anrich Nortje.
