Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja observed that the manner in which talismanic batter Virat Kohli scored his eighth IPL century against Rajasthan Royals did not indicate any difficulty in strokeplay due to the pitch conditions at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Kohli’s unbeaten 113 off 72 balls, his third century in his last seven IPL innings, included 12 fours and four sixes, equalling his highest score in the competition. He scored 67 off 39 balls against pace and 46 off 33 balls against spin, contributing nearly 62% of RCB’s total of 183/3.
Despite Kohli’s remarkable performance, RCB lost to RR by six wickets, with Jos Buttler making an unbeaten 58-ball century. Interestingly, Kohli’s 67-ball ton equals the joint-slowest century in IPL history, along with a hundred made by Manish Pandey in the same number of balls against DC in 2009. Jadeja commented on Kohli’s impressive start and expressed surprise at Kohli’s remarks about the pitch, noting that his batting did not reflect any shortcomings in the pitch conditions.
