MLA Shamanur Shivshankarappa’s statement that a woman who does not know about the issues of the Lok Sabha constituency is only limited to cooking, has caused a huge controversy. Women have already condemned this statement. Badminton star Saina Nehwal also strongly condemned. Now district BJP has started election campaign keeping this statement as a weapon.
An innovative protest was held by BJP Mahila Morcha condemning Shamanur’s statement. They protested by cooking in Jayadeva Circle of the city, by putting up a samayana in the circle and lighting a stove, ready to cook and ready to serve people.
BJP’s Mahila Morcha members protested by making tea, and later they drank it and gave a befitting reply to Shamanur Shivshankarappa. Many women participated in the protest led by BJP Women District President Manjula and condemned his statement.
Senior Congress MLA Shamanur Sivashankarappa had stated that BJP candidate Gayatri Siddeshwar was limited to cooking. We have condemned it by cooking it on Wednesday. Girls are equal to men. In every field, women’s beads have prevailed. Talking like this doesn’t bring them any respect, said Mahila Morcha District President Manjula.
MLA Shamanur Sivashankarappa has written a letter to the Election Commission and clarified about his statement. Those who do not know him have made a lie and circulated it in the media that I have made such a hateful statement about the BJP candidate from Davangere Lok Sabha constituency, he mentioned in the letter.
