The general election for the Lok Sabha is currently going on and the voter turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in City North and South assembly constituencies is less than the average of the state, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer and Sweep Committee Chairman Suresh B Itnal said that it should be ensured that more than 85 percent voter turnout in this huge Lok Sabha election.
He was presiding over a meeting with the polling officers of City North and South assembly constituencies at the Zilla Panchayat Hall on Wednesday. In the last Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the voter turnout in Davangere constituency was 72.96 percent. But the voter turnout is lowest in City North with 65.71 percent and South with 65.93 percent. He said that the target of the constituency should be more than 85 percent voting in this election.
If there is more voting in these constituencies in the 2024 elections, it is possible to get more than 85 percent voting, he said. He also said that all the polling station officials should do the work of visiting the polling booths and collecting the information of the voters and informing them to come to the polling station and vote on May 7, when the election will be held.
