At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) security conclave in Kazakhstan, key points were emphasized by NSA Ajit Doval. The necessity of addressing terrorism swiftly and effectively, including cross-border terrorism, was stressed. Additionally, accountability for terrorism’s sponsors, financiers, and facilitators was highlighted. Condolences were extended for the recent terrorist attack in Moscow, with solidarity expressed for Russia’s anti-terrorism efforts.
Doval underscored the importance of countering terrorist use of technology, like drones for smuggling weapons and drugs across borders. India’s support for enhancing cooperation within RATS-SCO to counter terror financing was reiterated. Concerns were raised regarding the security situation in Afghanistan, including the presence of terrorist networks.
India’s commitment to deepening its relationship with SCO and member states was reiterated, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a SECURE SCO. The acronym SECURE stands for Security, Economic Cooperation, Connectivity, Unity, Respect for Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity, and Environment Protection.
Overall, Doval’s remarks emphasized the urgency of addressing terrorism comprehensively, with a focus on cooperation, accountability, and solidarity among SCO members in combating this menace.
