All Languages Should Be Respected: Prof A Murageppa

All languages should be respected equally, said former Vice-Chancellor of Hampi University Prof A Murageppa, speaking at the inauguration of a one-day national level Indian Language Conference organised by the Karnataka State University Teachers’ Association, Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (New Delhi) at the Manasollasa Auditorium of Karnataka University in the city, he said that language has been used as a means of communication since the beginning of civilization. He said that India is a country of unity in diversity and home to many languages, all languages have their own characteristics.

There is a need for everyone to think about saving and developing the Indian language. Kannada, Tamil, Malayali, Sanskrit, Marathi are all Indian languages, he said, adding that it is a matter of pride that the country has diversity in the art of speaking and providing knowledge.

Speaking on the same occasion, Karnataka University Vice Chancellor Prof. K. B. Gudisi said that Dharwad is known for its education.  Language has been highlighting its existence from head to toe. He said that Dharwad has made its own contribution to linguistics.

Karnataka University Finance Officer Prof C. Krishnamurthy, Organizing Secretary Prof NH Kallur, Coordinator AB Vedamurthy, convener GK Badigera and many others were present.
