Lahore
On Sunday, it was announced by Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi that the national selection committee would undergo reorganization, eliminating the position of chairman. At a press conference in Lahore, it was stated by Naqvi that the committee would now include Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq, Muhammad Yousaf, and Asad Shafiq.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that the committee would also consist of the national team’s head coach and captain, along with a data analytics expert. This decision followed a meeting between Chairman Naqvi and Riaz regarding team selection for the upcoming series against New Zealand, as reported on Saturday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed optimism regarding hosting the Champions Trophy next year. A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) is scheduled to arrive in the country on Monday to inspect preparations for the tournament, focusing on venues in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
Chairman Naqvi stated that the delegation would receive briefings on preparations and visit the venues to assess upgrades for the Champions Trophy. Pakistan’s last ICC event hosting was a part of the 1996 World Cup with India.
