During his IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Harshit Rana was fined 60 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct, as confirmed by an IPL statement. The statement revealed that Rana, aged 22, had committed two Level 1 offences under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. He admitted to the two offences and agreed to the fines, which amounted to 10 percent and 50 percent of his match fees for the respective breaches. The Match Referee’s decision on Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct is deemed final and binding.
Rana’s performance during the match was notable as he picked up three wickets in his four-over spell, conceding only 33 runs. Despite a challenging start for KKR, with the team reduced to 51/4 in 7.3 overs while batting first, they managed to reach a competitive total of 208/7 in 20 overs, thanks to impactful contributions from Phil Salt, Ramandeep Singh, Andre Russell, and Rinku Singh.
