Political activists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Gilgit-Baltistan staged a demonstration outside the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, urging Pakistan to withdraw its forces from the occupied territories in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution.

Organized by the National Equality Party JKGBL during the 55th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, the protest was led by Prof. Sajjad Raja, Chairman of the National Equality Party JKGBL. Prof. Raja emphasized the dire human rights situation in PoJK and Gilgit Baltistan, asserting the need for Pakistan’s withdrawal to allow the regions’ inhabitants to determine their own future, as mandated by UN resolutions.

Carrying banners condemning Pakistan’s occupation, the protesters highlighted violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Habib-ur-Rehman, a member of the Jammu Kashmir People’s National Party, underscored the exploitation of resources and oppression by the Pakistani regime in these regions.

Pakistan’s control over parts of Jammu and Kashmir has drawn international criticism for human rights abuses, including censorship, arbitrary arrests, and discrimination against minorities. Reports also indicate land confiscation and displacement in Gilgit-Baltistan, often linked to infrastructure projects like the CPEC. The demonstrators urged the UN to address these grievances and implement resolutions for the region’s self-determination.
