PM to Inaugurate Projects in Bihar, Bengal on Aug 22

PM Modi to launch Kolkata metro lines, Kona Expressway, and housing projects

New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal on August 22 to launch and inaugurate projects worth nearly ₹18,000 crore. His Bihar visit will begin in Gaya, where he will lay foundation stones, inaugurate development works, and flag off two trains, including the Amrit Bharat Express to Delhi and the Buddhist Circuit Train. A major highlight will be the 8.15 km Aunta-Simaria bridge on the Ganga, built at a cost of ₹1,870 crore, which will ease travel between North and South Bihar by cutting detours of over 100 km. He will also inaugurate the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama NH-31 section, the Buxar Thermal Power Plant, and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Muzaffarpur, besides sewerage, water supply, and Namami Gange projects.

In Kolkata, PM Modi will inaugurate metro services on new sections, including the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar route, and also flag off the Sealdah–Esplanade and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay lines through video conferencing. These projects will cut travel time drastically, improve airport connectivity, and strengthen links with the city’s IT hub. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the six-lane Kona Expressway, which will improve road access between Howrah and Kolkata, giving a big push to trade and tourism.

Additionally, PM Modi will hand over keys to beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin and PMAY-Urban, fulfilling the dream of housing for thousands of families. His visit aims to boost connectivity, health care, housing, and infrastructure across both states, while promoting faster economic growth and improved quality of life.
