Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth returned as a director with the Tamil film ‘Lal Salaam’ after a gap of a few years, featuring Rajinikanth, Vikranth, and Vishnu Vishal. Released on February 9, it’s a sports drama with music by AR Rahman. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet box office expectations due to the loss of 21 days of footage, leading to re-editing.
In an interview , Aishwaryaa expressed shock over the loss, attributing it to irresponsibility. She lamented its impact on the entire team and shared how they lost footage from a cricket match shot with ten cameras, making it a challenging situation.
Facing the dilemma of reshooting or re-editing, they opted for the latter as actors had changed appearances during post-production. Despite challenges, both Vishnu Vishal and Rajinikanth were supportive, though compromises were inevitable. Reflecting on the film’s reception, Aishwaryaa acknowledged audience dissatisfaction but considered it a learning experience. She also discussed alterations made to emphasize Rajinikanth’s cameo role, adapting to audience expectations.
