New Delhi
Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced on Wednesday that the establishment of three new cooperative societies NCOL, NCEL, and BBSSL is to address numerous challenges in Indian agriculture while bolstering farmers’ earnings through the promotion of agricultural exports, particularly organic products.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new office building for these national-level multi-state cooperative societies at the World Trade Centre in Nauroji Nagar, Shah emphasized the imperative of advancing organic and natural farming while discouraging the use of chemical fertilizers. He revealed plans to establish a laboratory in every district within five years to certify organic farm produce.
Shah highlighted NCOL’s role in advancing organic farming alongside Amul’s efforts in introducing organic products to the market. He outlined ambitious targets, aiming to increase India’s organic exports from the current Rs 7,000 crore to Rs 70,000 crore, tapping into the Rs 10 lakh crore global organic market.
He outlined the objectives for BBSSL, aiming for a turnover of Rs 10,000 crore within five years. Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sahakar se Samriddhi, these cooperative societies are dedicated to uplifting individuals involved in agriculture and associated activities. Registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, these societies aim to streamline agricultural produce procurement, ensuring maximum value for farmers while minimizing leakages in the process.
