PM Modi Virtually Launches PM-SURAJ National Portal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM-SURAJ (Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan) national portal through a virtual event on Wednesday. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha participated in the launch ceremony held in Agartala. The initiative aims to provide credit support to marginalized sections of society nationwide, with approval for assistance to one lakh entrepreneurs from disadvantaged communities. During the event, Prime Minister Modi interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes targeting marginalized groups, such as Scheduled Castes, backward classes, and sanitation workers.

The PM-SURAJ national portal signifies the Prime Minister’s commitment to prioritize the underprivileged, representing a transformative effort aimed at uplifting society’s most marginalized segments. Credit support will be extended across the country through banks, NBFC-MFIs, and other organizations. Additionally, the Prime Minister distributed Ayushman Health Cards and PPE kits to Safai Mitras (Sewer and Septic tank workers) under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE), emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the health and safety of frontline workers.

The event witnessed the participation of over 3 lakh beneficiaries from disadvantaged groups across 500 districts. Ministers of Commerce Santana Chakma and ARDD Sudhangshu Das were also present. Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated the new terminal building of the Nagerjala bus stand in Agartala, highlighting the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure and services for the people.
