Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, Kurukshetra MP and prominent OBC leader Nayab Singh Saini is set to become Haryana’s next Chief Minister, as announced by Haryana BJP MLA Krishan Lal Middha following a meeting of BJP legislators in Chandigarh. Saini’s appointment comes with the backing of the BJP, its allies, and six independent MLAs, with the swearing-in ceremony expected later today. With 41 BJP MLAs in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, along with support from five independents and the Haryana Lokhit Party MLA Gopal Kanda, Saini’s ascension seems secure.

Karnal BJP MP Sanjay Bhatia emphasized the CM’s prerogative in forming the cabinet, expressing confidence in winning all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.

Nayab Singh Saini, who clinched victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by a substantial margin, has been an integral part of the Haryana BJP since 1996. Known for his closeness to outgoing CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Saini’s leadership is expected to resonate with the Saini community, comprising 8% of Haryana’s population, impacting the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

Earlier, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tendered his resignation after the BJP-Jannayak Janata Party alliance dissolved, following which Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala’s JJP withdrew its support. Khattar submitted his resignation to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
