Guneet Monga Unveils Oscar’s Secret Spot At Home

Must read

Guneet Monga, a two-time Academy Award-winning producer, cherishes her remarkable achievement. She admits feeling surreal when referred to as an Oscar winner and takes pride in displaying the coveted trophy in her home.

Producer and director Kartiki Gonsalves made history at the 2023 Oscars with ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ winning the Best Documentary Short Film award.

This marked her second Oscar win, following her 2019 documentary short film ‘Period: End of Sentence’, directed by Iranian American filmmaker Rayka Zehtabch. Talking to sources, Guneet said that she has a little meditation room, and the Oscar trophy is there. It is, as she calls it, her shrine.

Guneet also said that an Oscar campaign is intense, especially for people from other parts of the world. One has to put yourself out there, network, and push their film. On the surface, one is hosting a screening, putting the word out there, and hoping for more and more voters to watch the film. Many events happen. Mostly, there is a lot of press activity, and having the press there covers them and has a larger conversation, so one can garner more attention from the voters. So, it is challenging for people from other countries (other than the US) who don’t have years of relationship experience.

This year, the Indian documentary ‘To Kill a Tiger’ has been nominated for the Oscars. Notably, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Dev Patel, and Mindy Kaling serve as executive producers on the film, which is set to release on an popular OTT platform.
